Pearl Poindexter

Pearl S. Poindexter, 91, of Chillicothe, died 1:05pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at her home, following an extended illness.   She was born December 15, 1925 in Chillicothe to the late Pearl and Elizabeth Graham Beard. On May 15, 1947 she married Gerald Poindexter Sr., who preceded her in death January 5, 2006. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law David (Janet) Poindexter, M.D., of Houston, TX; grandchildren David Poindexter, Christa Thomas, Gerald Poindexter III, all of Chillicothe; Nicholas and Asha Govia, both of Houston; great-grandchildren Patrick Thomas, Leanna Thomas, and Christopher Jones; and great-great-grandchildren, Darrian and Carter Roar. She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Poindexter II; a twin sister, Merle Beard; a sister, Patricia Beard; and two brothers, Jack and Charles Beard.   Pearl was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She retired from the VA Medical Center-Chillicothe as a Housekeeping Supervisor, following over 20 years of service. She was the owner/operator of G & P Ceramics. Most importantly, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and raised many of them.     The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Mary Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. At her request, calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Church, Restoration Fund, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
