Paul Leonard Johnson, 85, passed away on December 8, 2024, at his home. He was born June 18, 1939, to Foster and Martha Johson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis, whom he married on June 7, 1964. He has one daughter, Dr. Paula Garvey (Sean) and two grandsons, Michael Paul and William Patrick Garvey. He is survived by one brother, Michael (Shelia), one sister, Beverly Mayo (Dan), and sister-in-law, Betty Johnson. Deceased are his parents, Martha and Foster, sister, Patsy Bishop, and brothers, David, Charles, Glenn, Wendell, Gary, and James.
Paul graduated from Buckskin High School in 1957. He then served his country in the Marine Corps, in 1967 he graduated from Ohio University and from Xavier University in 1974. He taught for 30 years in the Paint Valley School System. During that time, he served as a science teacher, math teacher, Coach, Junior High Principal, and Athletic Director.
He loved to play golf, work in his woodshop, read, travel (esp. to Oak Island, N.C.) and spend time with his family.
He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Hillsboro where he was active in the "Soup's On" program and in the Sunday School.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. He will be cremated and when his wife passes their ashes will be buried together in a private graveside ceremony, where full military honors will be observed for Paul.
