Paul A. Fairbanks, 81, of Chillicothe, died 5:10 pm, Saturday, June 22, 2013, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born May 7, 1932 in West Kittanning, PA to the late Howard and Josephine Dickey Fairbanks. On March 26, 1955 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Brown Hammett, who died May 21, 2004. Survivors include his daughter, Paula Fairbanks; a son, Tim Fairbanks, both of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Ginger Fairbanks, Shawn Elliott, Paul D. Fairbanks, and Jamie Hyden; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers; five sisters; and his parents. Paul retired from Wonder Bread Bakery as a night loader and founded Fairbanks Mobile Home Repair. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 757. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Steven Schmidt officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 5-8 pm Wednesday or one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Haller's.
