It is with deep sorrow and great love that the family of Patsy "Peg" Whalen announces her peaceful passing at home, surrounded by family, on June 10, 2025, at the age of 88.
Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Deacon William T. Whalen, Sr.; her son, William T. Whalen, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Whalen; sisters, Shirley Ross and Evelyn Craun; son-in-law, Steven Francisco; and grandson, Joseph Whalen.
She is survived by her devoted children, Michelle, Diane, Margaret, James (Jill), Kevin (Becky), and Beth. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Jami, Amy, Mary (Peter), Sarah (Kyle), Libby (Nick), Meghan (Brandon), Patrick (Paige), Kevin, Will, Marissa, Natalie, Sophia, Ryan, and Madie; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Emma, Jackson, Lily, Leah, Althea, Zoey, Olivia, Sonny, Violet, and Theo.
Peg retired after 36 years of service as the church secretary at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chillicothe. A faithful servant and active member of her community, she also volunteered with Heartland Nursing Home, the Adena Board of Volunteers, St. Mary's Parish Council, Relay for Life, and the Bishop Flaget School Board. She found joy in life's simple pleasures- creating beautiful mosaics, cheering on the Buckeyes and Red, spending time with her beloved dog Morgan, and sharing wine and laughter with her cherished friends. She had a gift for making others feel seen and loved, and she treated everyone as though they were her own. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the heart and soul of her family, and her legacy of love, warmth, and strength will carry on through all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, June 13, from 4:00pm-7:00pm, with a wake service beginning at 7:00pm.
