Patrick Andrew Diehl, 30, of Chillicothe, died March 2, 2015, at the Adena Regional Medical Center Emergency Room following a respiratory arrest. He was born April 26, 1984 in Chillicothe to Terry R. and Laura L. Downs Diehl, who survive. Also surviving is his wife, the former Cassy A. Adkins; his son, Gabriel Matthew Diehl; brothers, Derek C. Diehl, Kingston and Heath A. Diehl, Bowling Green, OH; aunts and uncles, Sherrie (Clark) Cook, Gary (Toni) Diehl, John "Pete" Diehl, Amy (Seth) Voorhees; several cousins; his mother-in-law, Roni (Jamie) Calder; father-in-law Troy (Tammy) Adkins; a sister-in-law Courtney (Jonny) Lawhorn; and a niece and nephew, Grace and Gunner. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald Downs and Georgia (Thomas) Quest; his paternal grandparents, Johnny and Eileen Diehl; an aunt, Trudy Gray; and an uncle, Larry Diehl. Patrick was a 2002 graduate of Zane Trace High School where he excelled at the game he loved, football. His senior year he was team captain, team MVP, and was awarded all SVC, all district, and all state honors. He attended college at Ohio University-Chillicothe and Wittenberg University, Springfield. He worked 10 years for the Chillicothe Correctional Institution as a corrections officer. Patrick loved sports, working out, and most especially spending time with his son. Patrick and his family gave the gift of life through tissue donation. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday or 11 am -1 pm Saturday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gabriel Diehl Account, at Homeland Credit Union, for the benefit of his son Gabriel.
