Patricia A. "Patsy" Day, 77, of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Chillicothe and Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2023, following an extended illness. She was born on March 12, 1946, in Chillicothe, to the late Hudson G. and Marie (Canavotto) Jayne. On September 4, 1992, she married the love of her life, her best friend and caregiver, David D. Day, who survives. Also surviving are her children: Susan (Brian) Lieving, of Milford, OH; Hudson (Judy) Ward, of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren: Laney and Lindsey Lieving; Hudson, Madison and Elison Ward; her sisters Roberta Cunningham, Lorena Risch, and Nancy Matushoneck; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers John, Hudson, George, and her twin Patrick Jayne. Patsy was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1964. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Ohio University and furthered her education at the College of Mount St. Joseph. She worked in education, primarily as a kindergarten teacher at Bishop Flaget School, and as a 6th grade teacher in the Akron Public School system before her retirement in 2007. Patsy was an avid reader. She loved to dance and listen to music, especially country, and thought that she sounded just like Patsy Cline! She adored her grandchildren. She never met a stranger and could always make you laugh. Patsy loved teaching and enjoyed sharing stories about her experiences with her students over the years. In retirement, Patsy remained active by volunteering at the Akron Public Library and Akron General Hospital. She and Dave enjoyed their winters in Naples, Florida taking walks, spending time with friends, and enjoying the beach. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Patsy's special caregiver, Diane Wedding, for her loving assistance over this last year. Thank you also to Hospice of Cincinnati, and to the Parkinson's Association of Southwest Florida for their guidance and support. The family will receive friends Friday, May 26, from 4-6pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson's Association of Southwest Florida at https:// parkinsonassociationswfl.org/ donate or Hospice of Cincinnati at https://hospiceofcincinnati. org/donate
