Only by dying are we truly born into eternal life. Patricia L (Cooper) Cousins was born into eternal life on May 6th, 2026. The former Patricia L. Cooper was born on July 31, 1938, in Ross County, Ohio to Roy E. Cooper and Iva Mae (Keels) Cooper.
Pat was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, George E. Cousins, Jr., on November 29th, 1958. This union was richly blessed with a son, George (Juno) E. Cousins, III, Columbus, Ohio, and a daughter, Deanna Y. Cousins, Chillicothe, Ohio, who survive her.
Also surviving is a very dear brother, Dr. Robert W. Cooper (Dr. Rosemary Duffy Cooper) Gahanna, Ohio. Left with loving memories of Aunt Pat are precious nieces and nephews, and many dear in-laws.
Preceding Pat’s Homegoing were several loved ones. Parents Roy E. Cooper and Iva Mae (Keels) Cooper, beloved husband George E. Cousins, Jr., brother Willman “Bill” R. Cooper, father-in-law and mother-in-law, George E. Cousins, Sr. and Tula M. Netter, cousins, several uncles and aunts, and many cherished in-laws.
Pat was blessed with many loving friends and neighbors. Left with lasting memories that only special friendship provides are Wilmetta Austin and Diane Lynch, and other close friend too numerous to mention, and a special sister-in-law, Kathy (Cousins) Sims.
She had been a long-time member of Floral Baptist Church, where she met Jesus as her personal Saviour. During her membership there she served in several offices, most notably Statutory Agent, usher, Sunday School teacher among other positions.
In the year 2000, Pat was welcomed as a member of the Zion Baptist Church family. Among her contributions were President of the Zion Baptist Widows Ministry, Finance Committee, Hospitality Community, Pastor’s Service, and Health Ministry.
Pat donated time as a volunteer at the Adena Medical Center, the Hope Clinic, and the Mid-Ohio Mobile Food Market of Ross County.
She was a graduate of the Chillicothe High School and attended Ohio University, Chillicothe Branch. Pat retired in 2013 after nearly 33 years of employment at the Elder-Beerman Department Store where she had been a past Department Manager.
Her favorite expression was, “This too shall Pass.” Her favorite philosophy was, “Any good I can do or say let it be now, for I shall not pass this way again.”
Pat’s Homegoing Service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 3:00pm at Old Zion Baptist Church, 536 Mill Street with Rev. Dr. J Troy Gray officiating followed by burial at Floral Hills Memory Garden. Calling hours will be held at the Church on Tuesday from 1pm until time of service.
