Pamela S. Derringer, 72, of Chillicothe, died at 11am May 1, 2021, following an extended illness.
She was born October 8, 1948, in McArthur, OH, to the late Joe and Eileen (Phillips) Fain. On March 21, 1970, she married William E. Derringer, who survives.
Also surviving are her daughter Theresa (Wayne) Newell, of South Carolina; son Eric (Amy) Derringer, Chillicothe; grandchildren: Makayla, Brandon and McKenna Newell, Chris (Erin) Derringer, and Bryce, Drew and Zack Derringer; a great-grandchild expected this fall; brothers Michael Fain, Chillicothe, and Jerry (Linda) Fain, Clearwater, FL; and a sister Nancy (David) Brock, Chillicothe.
Pam had taught elementary school in Laurelville and then worked as a School Psychologist for Ross County Schools for over 35 years. She was a member of AAUW and Altrusa, and served on the Ross Co. Extension Advisor Committee. She was also a former 4H Advisor and superintendent of the Ross Co. Fair Dog Program. Pam spent the better part of her life raising and training dogs, her favorite breed being the Great Dane. Pam also judged dogs at the Ohio State Fair. She enjoyed her photography club and book club.
Following a private family ceremony, public graveside services will be held in Grandview Cemetery at 2:30pm Friday, May 7, with Chuck Phillips officiating. Family and friends in attendance are asked to follow social distancing and facial coverings requirements. There will be no public calling hours.
