Dr. Pablito Tanedo, 99, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025. Born in Tarlac, Philippines, he moved to the United States in 1957 to complete his medical residency at St. Joseph Hospital, where he met his wife Phoebe, a nursing student. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage.
Dr. Tanedo's distinguished medical career began in Hawaii before he and Phoebe moved to Chillicothe, Ohio. He served as a General Surgeon at the VA Medical Center and later joined Adena Health System also as a General Surgeon, and rising to Chief of Staff. He concluded his career in family practice at Family Healthcare System.
Throughout his life, Dr. Tanedo maintained strong ties to his Filipino heritage, regularly returning to the Philippines for mission work to provide care for underserved communities. He and Phoebe were enthusiastic travelers who explored the world together on numerous cruises and tours to destinations abroad. Despite his worldly travels, he remained deeply rooted in his cultural traditions, particularly his lifelong appreciation for authentic Filipino cuisine.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Heritage Assisted Living, the dedicated team at Davita Adena Dialysis for their years of dialysis care, and the caring professionals at Hospice of National Church Residence who provided comfort and dignity in his final days.
Dr. Tanedo is survived by: his wife Phoebe; son Paul (Martha); daughter Theresa Dawson; grandchildren: Paulina Tanedo Nichta (Ben), Grace Tanedo Fisher (Sean), Conor Dawson, Mary Dawson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, September 29, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Stanislaus John, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am at St. Mary. Following cremation, inurnment will be held at St. Margaret Cemetery Columbarium.
