Ovid Bethel

Ovid Olan Bethel, 69, of Chillicothe, died peacefully at 2:30am on Sunday, April 7, 2013, in his home following an extended illness. Ovid was born on January 1, 1944, in Chillicothe to the late Sidney Eldridge and Eliza Elsie (Nokes) Bethel. Surviving are his children: Bob Bethel, of Chillicothe; and Cindy (Steven) Rodeman, of Akron; his granddaughters: Sophia Lynn and Eliza Delores Bethel; a grandson, Jackson Wade Rodeman; two sisters: Anna Andrews, of Kingston, and Shirley Early, of Louisville, KY; his former wife, Joyce (Streevey) Masters, of Jackson; a sister-in-law Donna Bethel, Chillicothe; and a brother-in-law, Mark Streevey, of Chillicothe. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: William "Bub" Bethel, Lloyd Bethel, and Charles Bethel. Ovid worked as a Union Roofer, and was part of the Roofers & Waterproofers, Local 86. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.
