Otis Payne "Pat" Brantley Jr. passed away peacefully with his son and daughter by his side on July 18, 2020 at the age of 91.
He is survived by, his son David Brantley (Connie Brantley), daughter Susan Hager (Garry Hager), grandchildren Jennifer (Adam), Sleeper, Justin (Jessica) Brantley, Garry Hager Jr. (Heather Rickman)  and Connie Fazio, great grandchildren Braden, Connor, Tyler, Elise, Nolan and Kaydance. Pat is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ellen Brantley, and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by Grace Brantley, his wife of 68 years, in 2017, his parents Rosa and Otis Brantley senior and his brother Robert "Bob" Brantley.
Born on December 7, 1928 in Atlanta Georgia, Pat lived in numerous cities as a child. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18. After discharge, he moved to Chillicothe where he met his future wife, Elsie "Grace" Carnes and was married on January 21, 1949. He was employed at Mead Paper in 1950 where he worked for 40 years. While employed at Mead, he worked in the print shop and as a quality supervisor in the Chilpaco mill. In addition to his work at Mead, he also owned and operated a printing business.
Pat and Grace were married for 68 years. They had a loving marriage that impressed everyone who knew them. During the later years of her life, Grace battled Alzheimer's. Pat continued to be a loving husband and was her sole caregiver for as long as possible. Even during her last year in a Nursing Home, Pat stayed by her side nearly every waking minute. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church all his adult life, serving in various capacities.
Pat will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to thank National Church Residences Heritage building staff, Schaefer building (paint creek unit) and National Church Residences Hospice for their care and compassion.
Viewing will be held on July 24 from 11am to 1pm at Haller Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on July 24, at Haller Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Chris Brown. Military graveside honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus Ohio 43215.
