Oscar J. "OJ" Shelhart Jr., 84, of Frankfort, died 5:26 am, Monday, December 20, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 1, 1926 in Columbus, OH to the late Oscar J. and Belle M. Guss Shelhart Sr. On August 2, 1947 he married the former Anna M. Susil, who survives. In addition to his wife of 63 years, survivors include his children, Steve (Patricia) Shelhart, of St. Louis, MO and Teresa Shelhart, of Atlanta, GA; special grandchildren, James Jr., Danielle, and Bobbie; and several additional grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry D. and James M. Shelhart. Mr. Shelhart was a retired self employed appliance technician. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 142, Waverly; the South East Conservation Club; the League of Ohio Sportsman; a life member of the North American Hunting League; and a licensed Ohio Hunter and Trapper Education Instructor. Mr. Shelhart was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am, Thursday, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 142 will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm.
