Ora French

Ora L. French, 85, of Chillicothe, passed this life at 12:00am Thursday, October 30, 2008 in Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday November 3, in the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. John M. Nunley officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7pm Sunday at Haller Funeral Home. Ora was born August 9, 1923, in Vinton Co. to the late Charles and Nora Justice French. On May 13, 1948, he married the former Marjorie June Tarlton, who survives. Also surviving are his children Robert French, of Chillicothe; Karen (John) Nunley, of Kingston; 4 grandchildren: Adam (Beth) French, Pataskala, OH; Troy (Lily) Nunley, Denver, CO; John Aaron (Jennifer) Nunley, Middletown, OH; Rebecca LeVeck, Kingston; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn (Don) Hanes, of Washington C.H.; Edna (John) Estep, Chillicothe; Stella Jane (Ray) Jones, McArthur; Nelda (Bill) Skaggs, Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: Estel French and Elmon French; and sisters Dorothy Morones and Laurabelle Clear. Mr. French served in the US Army and the US Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Mead Corporation, he was a dedicated volunteer at the Ross Co. Senior Citizens Center for many years.
