Opal J. Strausbaugh Opal J. Ackley Strausbaugh, 68, of Chillicothe, died 10:22 am, Sunday, December 3, 2006 in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born May 7, 1938 in Ross Co. to George and Emmarean Breakall Ackley. On April 25, 1960 she married Kenneth M. Strausbaugh, who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Randy) Hurtt, Tami (Dan) Stern, and Tressa Strausbaugh, all of Chillicothe; her eight grandchildren, Tony and Megan Clary, Michael (Cathy) Hurtt, Kendra Stern, Dan (Erica) Stern Jr., Jamie Wright, Tee and Wren Beverly; two great-grandchildren, Toban Byrd and Serenity Umphries; two sisters, Helen Atwell, of Columbus and Nancy (Purl) Brown, of Hallsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya; five sisters, Rosemary VanSickle, Frances McMasters, Ruth Cain and Edith and Dorothy Hutchison; and five brothers, Kenneth, Harold, George, Ralph, and Charles Ackley. Mrs. Strausbaugh retired from Wear-Ever Aluminum in 1991, after 26 years of service and most recently from Quick Clean Laundry. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and active in the Navy Petty Officer's Club. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, December 7, 2006 in the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Eric VanBuskirk officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Wednesday at Haller's.
