Opal Knapp, 87, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday evening, June 9, 2023 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1936, in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Sherman and Nellie Mae (Chaney) Williamson. On February 15, 1954, she married her beloved husband, James L. Knapp, and together they shared nearly 51 years of marriage before his passing on January 16, 2005. Surviving is her grandson, Aaron (Fiancé Stevie Taylor) Knapp; two great-grandsons, Grant Meyer, and Sawyer Knapp; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen (Linda) Knapp; great-grandson, Trent Knapp; her sisters, Betty (Charles) Carter, Bessie (Phil) Riehle, Norma (Gene) Gragg, and Bertha (Bob) Kellough; and her brothers, Lloyd (Nettie) Williamson, Roy (Ethel) Williamson, Robert Williamson, and Ralph Williamson. Opal enjoyed attending the Maple Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union when able before illness prevented her. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Dane Knapp officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
