Okereta Mae Bobo, 76, of Waverly, died Sunday evening, December 7, 2014 at her home, following an extended illness. She was born April 11, 1938 in Pennsboro, West Virginia, to the late James Ronald and Evelyn Louise (Hartsell) Smallwood. Surviving are her children, Steven (Carolyn) Bobo, and Sheryl (William Hall) Benson, all of Waverly; Granddaughters, Beth Anne (John) Hartmus-Bobo, of Hilliard, and Amanda Benson, of Waverly; Great-Granddaughters, Guinevere and Emerson Creeger, of Hilliard; a sister, Betty (Donald) Koskinen, of CA; a brother, Jim (Angie) Smallwood, Jr., of CA; sisters-in-law, Betty Whitaker, and Marilynn (Eddie) Lilly; a brother-in-law, Charles (Ruth) Langley; several nieces and nephews; as well as the father of her children, Jesse J. Bobo. In addition to her mother and father, Okereta was preceded in death by a very special friend, Charles Bishop, a brother-in-law, two nephews, and her in-laws, Jesse and Bessie Bobo. Okereta retired from Adena Hospital in 1999 after 20 years of employment, where she worked as a nurse's assistant and later as a unit clerk. She enjoyed attending Hilltop Mission Church with her daughter Sheryl, liked working on word search puzzles, but most of all, loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by them, and especially by her dog Buffy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 11, at the Haller Funeral Home, with Jared McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Family and Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday at Haller Funeral Home.
