Odesta Thomas

Odesta H. Thomas Odesta Hughes Thomas, 84, of Chillicothe, died 8:30 pm, Friday, October 3, 2008 in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday in the Floral Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 5-8 pm Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home. She was born February 17, 1924 in Reform, AL to Lular and Lillie Ward Hughes. She married John D. Thomas, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her brother, Larry (Alice) Hughes, of Irvine, CA; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Marvene Cousins, Lillie Smith and Elise Peterson, of Chillicothe; numerous great nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Charity Neece, of Chillicothe, and Esther Hughes, of Columbus. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister. Mrs. Thomas was a long time member of Floral Baptist Church and served as a former Deaconess, in the choir, as a missionary, and attended Sunday School faithfully. She retired from the Ross Co.
