Neal Locklear

Neal Emerson Locklear, Jr., 62, of Chillicothe, passed away Friday afternoon, July 12, 2024 at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born December 14, 1961, in Chillicothe, son of Neal Emerson Locklear, Sr., and Patricia Lee (Beard) Smith, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two children, Markiah Le'tish Locklear, and Marquez Davon Leroy Wright Locklear; his sister, Susan Deneen Mickey; half-sister, Terri Hitchens; a nephew, Anthony Lee Gilbert; a niece, Nacole Lynn Tirado; his beloved lifelong friends, Boomer, Popcorn, and Tip; as well as numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Locklear, and his half-brother, Craig Hitchens.

Neal was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1980. He went on to join the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. He was a former member of the Old Zion Baptist Church. In his free time, he loved playing poker, Keno, and chess.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Old Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Military graveside honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service at the church; located at 536 Mill St., Chillicothe.
