Neal Emerson Locklear, Sr., 85, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born September 19, 1939, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late William and Alberta (Wingo) Locklear. On June 17, 1960, he married Patricia Lee (Beard) Smith, who preceded him in death September 11, 2020.
Surviving are his two beloved daughters, Susan Mickey, and Terri Hitchens; grandchildren, Nacole Tirado, Anthony Gilbert, Markiah Locklear, Marquez Locklear, Vic Hitchens, and Tori Hitchens; his sister, Esther Jones; his brother, Kenny Chandler; as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to his parents and former wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Neal Locklear, Jr., Craig Hitchens, and Craig Locklear; his sister, Clara Jones, and his brother, William Alford Locklear.
Neal was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1957-1959. He was baptized at the Old Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, and enjoyed attending services when he was able. In his free time, he loved taking trips to the casino, spending time outdoors, and enjoyed fishing in his younger years.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Old Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service at the church.
