Nancy L. Sprouse, 79, died June 25, 2016, at the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital following a brief illness. She was born October 1, 1936, in Chillicothe, OH to the late Willard K. and Bessie M. (Schumacher) Dennewitz. On August 22, 1955, she married Gerald Sprouse, her high school sweetheart, who survives. Also surviving are their children: Monesa (Christopher) Skocik; Jamison Sprouse and Bradford Sprouse, all of Chillicothe; granddaughters: Jessica (Matthew) Wilson, Genoa, IL, Jordanne (Paul) Howanitz, Overland Park, KS, Natalie Skocik, Cincinnati, OH, and Taylor Sprouse, Paducah, KY; one great-grandson: John Christopher Wilson, Genoa, IL; her siblings: Barbara Dennewitz, Louisville, KY, Kenneth Neil Dennewitz (Charlotte Purvis), Donald (Linda) Dennewitz, all of Chillicothe; her brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law: Vernon (Sharon) Sprouse, Chillicothe, David (Judy) Sprouse, Dayton, Nancy (John) Cutright, Thousand Oaks, CA, Dane (Robin) Sprouse, Chillicothe, James (Sarah) Sprouse, Hilliard, Randall (Roxanne) Sprouse, Bellefontaine, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sprouse was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1954. She worked in a supervisory capacity at both Wearever and the Chillicothe Telephone Company and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Nancy was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Sister-In-Law, Aunt, and Friend. She was very proud of her growing family and loved holidays and other family get-togethers; any chance to spend with her family was important to her. She was quick to smile and even quicker to make sure that your stomach was always happy and full. She would do anything to crack a smile on your face, and hardly knew a stranger. And while the void created by her passing will be a consistent presence, we should all take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in each person who had the distinct pleasure of knowing her. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jason Link officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
