Nancy Basye

December 31, 1969 — May 20, 2014

Nancy "Nan" Basye, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 20, 2014, in Frisco, Texas. She was born in Ross Co. in 1936 to the late Frank and Mae (Hall) Stumbo. She and Reverend Samuel Basye Jr. were married for 51 years. Her beloved preceded her in 2007. Their children and grandchildren are: Jill and Ned Basye-Featherston and their children Lucas and Alicia; Dean and Susan Basye and their children Meredith and Mitchell. Dean, Susan, Meredith and Mitchell helped her to transplant to Texas in 2008. She loved her siblings and her nieces and nephews. She wants you to know that she is waiting for you with Jesus in Heaven. Nan graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and taught for 23 years in Ohio Public Schools. She was a Sunday school teacher and a children's church director in the Nazarene Church where her husband was the minister. Ohio was her home, but she enjoyed living in Texas where it is warmer and the flowers bloom all year long. Nana loved her children and grandchildren very much. Her daughter-in-law, Susan, and son-in-law, Ned, were a well loved part of her family. She visited Maryland often to visit and see Lucas and Ali in their school programs, as well as enjoyed watching Meredith and Mitchell, in Texas, in theirs. She was so proud of each of them. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00am, Saturday, May 31, at Twin Township Cemetery, located at 12202 US Rt. 50, Bourneville, under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. A memorial service and luncheon will follow the committal at 11:30am at the Westside Church of the Nazarene, 730 Orange Street, Chillicothe Ohio, where family and friends may wish to share stories and visit.
