Monty Joy Branson, 67, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully Monday night, October 13, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, following an extended illness.
She was born February 16, 1958 in Fort Brag, NC, daughter of the late Karl F. and Marion L. (Liggins) Brown, Sr. On April 9, 1977, she married her beloved husband, Vincent Branson, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are their two daughters, Michelle Lee, and Martina (Seth) Bange; grandchildren, Amaya Branson, DeSean Branson, Tristyn Lee, Maleah Branson, and Vincent Branson; great-grandchildren, Milan and Nova Crutchfield; her brother, Tally (Traci) Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Vincent Branson, Jr.; and her siblings, Kim Taylor, Kyle Barfield, Karl Brown, Jr., and Tim Brown.
Monty was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1976. She went on to work at Big Bear in Chillicothe for more than twenty years. She was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services with her husband. In her free time, she loved taking trips to the beach, going on bus trips, family vacations, and spending time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed playing cards, going bowling, bingo, and watching the Cleveland Browns and her HGTV shows.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
