Monte Miller

Monte W. Miller, born on a beautiful spring day April 27, 1959, to biological parents Roy and Bernice "Bee" (Cox) Miller, left us on May 4, 2022, a sunny Wednesday afternoon when God came to carry him to a far better place.  Bee later married Charles E. "Jack" Barnes, who loved and raised him as his own, and whom Monte loved and always considered his Dad.   Monte worked most of his life in the family business, Jack's Tire and Auto Center.  Later in life, he established a personal business and worked as a general contractor.   He is survived by his mother, Bee Barnes; his children: Kristy L. (Scott) Wilkinnson, Samantha A. (Mitchel) Sturgeon, Charles C. (Danielle) Miller, and Sylvia E. (Austin) Carroll; 6 grandchildren; a sister Deborah Fyffe; and brothers Troy D. Miller and Patrick C. (Jenny) Miller.  He was predeceased by his father Roy Miller, his dad Charlie "Jack" Barnes, and his half-sister Deborah "Little Deb" Barnes.   Monte enjoyed a great zest for life.  With stubborn determination, he valiantly fought to survive, against all odds, for over 4 years with stage 4 throat cancer.  But after the rigors of its treatment and a bout of pancreatitis, he could not fight off a complicated gall bladder surgery and pneumonia.  He will be dearly missed by family, numerous friends and all whose lives he touched.   His dear friend, Dave Minney, a board member of the Arc of Appalachia, was instrumental in getting the site up and going at the intersection of Belleview and Plyley's Lane.  In lieu of flowers, we ask instead, that you donate in honor of Dave and Monte to: Arc of Appalachia, 7660 Cave Rd., Bainbridge, OH 45612; online at https://arcofappalachia.org/donations-to-the-arc-of-appalachia ; or to the charity of your choice.    A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30pm, Sunday, May 15, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Therese Lehman officiating.  The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:30pm Sunday at the funeral home.
