Mildred Holub Zelinka, 94, previously of Belpre, Ohio, passed away Saturday April 24, 2021. She was born in Vapenny Podol, Czechoslovakia on September 16, 1926 to Josef and Anezka Tomiska Holub. At the age of 9, Mildred immigrated to the United States to live with her aunt and uncle, Joseph and Anna Tomiska. She attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York where she received her Bachelor's degree. Mildred then received her Masters in Education from SUNY Oneonta. Mrs. Zelinka enjoyed a career teaching English, grades K through 12. Mildred played the accordian and loved Polka music. She was an avid lover of all animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed football, supporting the OSU Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. Mildred was preceded in death by her former husband Carl Zelinka. She is survived by her two daughters Carol Zelinka Johnson (Rod) and Diane Zelinka Vaughn, her son Dr. Carl P. Zelinka II, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
