Mildred Stewart

Mildred L. Stewart, 92, of Chillicothe, died at 5:10am Monday, June 20, 2011, in her home following an extended illness. She was born June 6, 1919, in Chillicothe to the late Joseph H. and Aulty N. Jackson Artis. On November 8, 1941, she married Elmont E. "Dollar Bill" Stewart, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2009. Surviving is her daughter, Ila Sopher, Chillicothe; grandchildren: Kevin (Franchelle) Sopher, Sr., Chillicothe; Joseph W. (Terri) Sopher, Sr., Cincinnati; great-grandchildren: Kevin Sopher, Jr., Indianapolis; Joseph L. Sopher, Chillicothe; Kalin Sopher, Cincinnati; Chris Sopher, Chillicothe; Justin Sopher, Chillicothe; Joseph W. Sopher, Jr., Cincinnati; Omari Whaley, Jessica Williams, and Samuel Sopher, all of Cincinnati; great-great-grandchildren: Sariah Avery and Kennedy Sopher; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece Debbie Tinsley. She was predeceased by her brothers Lloyd and Archie Artis. Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church since 1954 where she served as a Deaconess and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, June 25, at the First Baptist Church, 65 W. Fourth St., with Rev. Michael Alston officiating, assisted by Rev. Jonathan McReynolds and Rev. Robert Hitchens. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Saturday at the church, where an Eastern Star Service will be held at 12:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to InCare Hospice of Southern Ohio, 681 E.
