Mildred Neff

November 9, 1915 — September 14, 2007

Mildred E. "Mid" Neff, 91, of Chillicothe, passed from this life to her heavenly reward at 4:40am September 14, 2007 at Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mid was loving, kind, and gentle. She made everyone and everything she touched better. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, September 17, at the Brookside Church, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, with Rev. Jack Norman and Rev. David Dean officiating. Burial will follow Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4:30pm until 8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Mid was born November 9, 1915, in Ross County to the late Martin L. and Rebecca Caldwell Eblin. She was a devoted wife for over 46 years to Eugene L. Neff, whom she married November 28, 1936. Mid was a wonderful mother to her three children who survive: Donald (Carole) Neff; Margie (Don) Thompson; and Ronald (Patty) Neff, all of Chillicothe; a most loved grandmother to her grandchildren: Angie (Dana) Widmayer; Gigi Neff, Garry (Mary) Thompson; Donna (Gerald) Moren; Holli Brown; Chris Thompson; Carrie (Jason) Fife; Eric Neff; Scott (Amanda) Neff; a proud great-grandmother to 17 beloved great-grandchildren: Keith, Eric, Brandon, Joel, Joshua, Stephanie, Amy, K.C., Ashley, Tyler, Kendall, Logan, Zoe, Jeb; Addy, Cade, Madison; her sister Mary "Kitty" Cottrill; her beloved sister-in-law whom she raised as her own, Dena Hill; sisters-in-law Eleanor Neff, Margaret Eblin, and Grace Eblin; and her best friend and beloved sister-in-law, Jessie Neff. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her much loved church family. She was predeceased by brothers Mellie, Marshall, Marcus "Fern"; sisters Mae, Marie, Maple, and Myrtle "Jenny". She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, whom she helped raise, Gladys, Cecil, Paul, Edsel, Helen, and Bea. Mid was a charter member of Brookside Church of Christ and Christian Union and played an integral part in the early development of the church. She was selected by the Chillicothe Gazette as Mother of the Year in 1986, a small testament to the incredible human being her family knew and loved so dearly.
