One of the most wonderful men that has ever lived has gone home to the Lord. Michael Charles True (4/1/50) passed away in the arms of his beautiful wife of fifty-three years, Polly Ann (Sparks) True, on 10/12/2022. Michael was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully after a brief illness. Michael, or "Papaw" to his family, was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice (Roberts) True; father, John Edwin True; and son, John Michael True. Michael is survived by his three daughters: Kathleen (Luke) Rapp, Lori (Doug) Kirby, and Jennifer (Thomas) Shaw; and seven grandchildren: Emily (Michael) Corriher, Dakota (Bridgette) Davis, Kathryn Rapp, Michaela Kirby, MaryEllen Rapp, Kaylee Hagen and Micah Hagen. His family was his world. Michael loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren beyond measure. He was a thoughtful, doting, and attentive husband to Polly through all their years of marriage. Polly and Michael enjoyed every minute they could with their family. Michael was always coming up with jokes, games and prizes for every get together with the grandkids. He welcomed anyone who needed unconditional love into the family and made them feel like they were his own. He was incredibly proud that all of his grandchildren were college educated and have incredibly strong work ethics. Many people know Michael as the devoted grandpa cheering at all of his grandchildren's ball games. It never mattered whether the team was winning or losing, he was always there. He rarely missed a ball game, 4H competition, Science Fair or award ceremony. Michael also devoted a great deal of his time to The Boy Scouts of America. He joined the Boy Scouts when he was ten and he stayed active for more than sixty years. Just like his family, he enjoyed helping his scouts to learn and to grow, in both the Boy Scouts and in life. He spent a great deal of his time collecting Boy Scout patches and going to Boy Scout Traderees, with Luke Rapp and his best friend, Steve Wright. Papaw will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6pm Friday, Oct. 21, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Groves officiating. Family and friends may call Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM, at the funeral home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Michael's memory to: The Boy Scouts of America.
