Michael R. Thompson, 57, of Hallsville, passed at 2:35pm Monday, September 7, 2009, in Riverside Methodist Hospital following an extended illness. He was born May 31, 1952, in Lancaster, OH, to the late John W. and Dorothy H. Arledge Thompson. Mike is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Brian Michael (Krystle) Thompson; grandchildren: McKayla, Hannah and Cameron, all of Chillicothe; sisters Robin Jo (Derrick) Diltz, Chillicothe; and Kim Michele Kuhn, of Hallsville; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mike was a graduate of Zane Trace High School, Class of 1971. He retired from Mead Paper Corp. in 2003. He loved working on electronics, fixing up CB radios ("Bad Boy") and building his own computers. Mike loved music, playing the guitar, drums and synthesizer throughout the years. He had a beautiful voice we will deeply miss. Mike also had a passion for racing his supped up cars and truck ("Bad Boyz Toy"). He was a member of the Mead, Local 731, former member of the Hallsville Volunteer Fire Dept and was an avid mushroom hunter. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, September 12, in the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Steven J. Schmidt officiating. Following the funeral, family and friends are invited to Tabernacle Baptist Church, corner of Hickory and Main, to continue to fellowship and share in a meal. Friends may call Saturday from 11am until 1pm at Haller's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haller Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
