Michael W. Seymour, 65, died at 9:23am Wednesday, November 12, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born May 23, 1949, in Ross County to Willard and Vera (McCorkle) Seymour. On July 8, 1989, he married Fhaletta S. Nichols, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Vera McCorkle, Chillicothe; sons and daughter-in-law Michael Timothy (Erin) Seymour, of Cedar Rapids, IA; Stephen Seymour, of Washington C.H.; grandchildren: Kayla, Hayley and Cole Seymour, all of Cedar Rapids, IA; the mother of his sons, Carolyn Long, of Frankfort; his sister and brother-in-law Carolyn (Steve) Harrington; brothers and sisters-in-law Allen (Patty) Seymour; Ken (Maria) Seymour; Keith (Terri) Seymour, all of Chillicothe; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Carlene and Jack Nichols; brothers-in-law Mark (Pam) Nichols; Matthew Nichols; Charles Nichols; sister-in-law Myscenea Nichols, all of Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including Kim Townsend. He was predeceased by his father. Mike was a graduate of Zane Trace High School, Class of 1967. He retired from the VA Medical Center in December of 2011, where he worked as an exterminator. He was a member of the Ross County Veterans Council; the VFW, Post 108; the American Legion, Post 62; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 600; the Loyal Order of the Moose; the Ross County and Ohio Archeological Societies; and the Ross County Conservation League. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed golfing, canoeing and hiking, hunting arrowheads, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Zoran Naumovski of Adena Regional Medical Center for his care. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, November 15, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Steven J. Schmidt officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8pm at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to any reputable veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
