Michael Retherford

February 5, 1948 — February 27, 2008

Michael W. "Herbie" Retherford, 60, of Chillicothe, died Wednesday February 27, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic accident. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, March 3, in the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Ott officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Herbie was born February 5, 1948, in Ross County to the late Warren Joseph and Annabelle Clark Retherford. On September 21, 1968, he married the former Barbara Jo Boothe, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth Ann (Michael) White, Waverly; son and daughter-in-law Jason Michael (Melissa) Retherford, Ashville, OH; grandchildren Ian Michael White; and Mallory Jo Retherford; sister and brother-in-law Debbie (John) Hopkins, Waverly; brothers and sisters-in-law Mark (Patty) Retherford, Chillicothe; and Andy (Charmine) Retherford, Logan, OH; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Frank (Mary)Boothe, Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew Jeremy Hopkins; maternal grandmother Oma E. Clark; and paternal grandparents Joe and Mae Retherford. Herbie graduated from Huntington High School, Class of 1966. He was currently working as the Caretaker of the Ross County Fairgrounds. He had worked as a printer around the Chillicothe area for over 40 years and also as a driver for Haller Ambulance Service. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 600 and the Navy Petty Officers. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed bowling.
