Michael L. Hines, 71, of Chillicothe, finished his race and received his heavenly reward at 10:44pm May 20, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1951, in Chillicothe, to the late H. Merrill and Phyllis M. (McKee) Hines. On June 7, 1970, he married the former Jennifer J. Schobelock, who survives. Also surviving are their children: Aaron (Rachel) Hines, of Chillicothe, and Samantha (Luke) Wren, of Burlington, KY; grandchildren: Shaelyn (Brendan) Hamilton, Christianna (Jay) Scott, Ciara Hines, Steele Wren, Caleb Hines, Aric Hines and Blake Wren; great-grandchildren: Sequoia and Ross Scott; a nephew Tim Colburn and niece Kimberly Colburn-Smith; and several in-laws and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Cindy Colburn. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Unioto High School, worked for Mead Paper Co. and retired from Glatfelter in 2016. Michael, a committed follower of Jesus Christ, loved his savior; his family; his church; and his country. He immensely enjoyed time with family, mowing while talking to Jesus, and worshiping with music. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds and all things NASCAR. Michael was a servant at all times, for he thought of others more than himself and served Christ with all his heart and soul. Family would like to thank everyone who contributed to Michael's care and prayed for him over the last few years, including Church Triumphant, Seven Hills Church and the entire care team of National Church Residences Southern Ohio hospice, especially Roger Estep, Sarah Neal, Caylaa Casto and Robin Brushart. His funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, May 25, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with his son, Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Dunkard Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Church Residence Hospice, 681 E. 3 rd St., Waverly, OH 45690.
