Melissa Sue Smith, beloved wife and dear mother, passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2024, at the age of 56. Melissa was born February 13, 1968, in Portsmouth to Lloyd Jackson and Shirley Wright. She leaves behind the love of her life, husband Dondi Smith of 20+ years.
She has a kind, beautiful soul that had love and support for everyone. She really enjoyed her family and friends but most importantly she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. Melissa had a caring nurturing soul that touched many lives, too many to speak on. She leaves shoes that can never be filled. Her passion was crafting and creativity. Her legacy will live on, gone but never forgotten.
She is survived by her husband Dondi Smith, her children, Sade Ford, Unique (Butch) Moran, Tre Ford, Aaliyah (John) Cooper, Jocelyn Smith, and Malon Smith, cherished grandchildren, Rilee Moran, Alaya Williams, Teagan Campbell, Bryson Campbell, and Zay McComas, her father Lloyd Jackson, sister, Karen (Joe) Rice, brothers, Maceio (Susan) Wright, Mark Wright, Chris Brown, Freddie (Angie) Jackson, Doug Jackson, Tony (Shelly) Jackson, Keith (Brandee) Jackson, Kevin (Trisha) Jackson, Devin (Tammy) Jackson, and Steve (Lisa Jackson), Godchildren, Shantel Johnson, and Tariq Turner, and aunt Sheryl (Gabe) Lewis. She shared a special bond with her Uncle Chuck Brown and his wife Cowana. She will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She is preceded in death mother, Shirley Wright, mother-in-law, Toni Smith, grandson, Bryson Campbell, special aunts, Julia and Anna Lowe, and sister-in-law, Nancy Jackson.
In keeping with Melissa's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Donations in Melissa's memory to Cheryl's House of Hope, 144 South Mulberry Street, Chillicothe OH 45601 would be appreciated by the family.
