Melissa Kay Posey

Melissa Kay Posey, a wife, cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on Friday, March 10th, 1967, in Chillicothe, Ohio, Melissa spent her lifetime immersed in the love and warmth of the community she called home.

Melissa was a proud graduate of Adena High School. She was proud of the years of her professional life dedicated to serving others as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant at the Chillicothe Veteran Affairs Hospital. Her compassionate nature and dedication to helping those in need touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Melissa's life was enriched by her myriad of interests. She adored cooking, traveling, and cruising. Her love for the beach was evident, with Hilton Head and Disney being among her most cherished destinations. Shopping and spending quality time with her loved ones brought her immense joy.

Melissa's memory will be lovingly carried forward by her husband, Tom Posey; her beloved children, Courtney Posey and Joshua (Cheyenne) Posey; and her cherished grandchildren, Jerryn Posey, Parker Posey, and Caroline Posey. Melissa also leaves behind her loving mother, Bethany Mitchell, and her step-mother, Valrey Hibbler.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael E. Hibbler, her step-dad, James Mitchell, and her dear aunt, Kay Bobb.

Melissa's warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory in Chillicothe, OH, on Monday, September 28th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service honoring Melissa's life will follow at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at the same venue followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
