Melissa Ewry, 60, passed from this life into the gates of Heaven to reunite with her family and friends that have passed before, on December 29, 2012, after a long battle of illnesses. She was born April 21, 1952, in Chillicothe, to the late Carlos J. "Bill" and Esther L. (Vance) Bland. On August 11, 1973, she married Aaron L. Ewry, of Kingston, who survives. Also surviving are two children: Traci Elder and her husband, Keith, of Chillicothe; Adam Ewry, of Kingston; grandchildren: Christian "Kole" Faulkner, Luzella Faulkner, Mackenzie Elder; and step-grandson Kirk Elder, all of Chillicothe. Although Melissa was an only child, she has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who were very special in her life and were more than just extended family. Melissa was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1970. She was a substitute aide for the Chillicothe and Logan Elm School Systems until her health declined. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she had many friends whom she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, January 4, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 585 E. Main St., Chillicothe; or to Teen Missions International, 885 E. Hall Rd., Merritt Island, FL 32953.
