Melba Detty

Melba L. Detty, 89, of Chillicothe, died at 7:54am August 12, 2015, at Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness. She was born August 2, 1926, in Chillicothe, to the late H. Lester and Eunice (Scott) Cozad. On February 14, 1946, she married Harold A. Detty, who preceded her in death in 1997. Surviving are their children: Donna and Larry Potasinski, of Woodstock, GA; Larry and Cathy Detty, Phoenix, AZ; Debra and Charlie Jenkins and Lesa and Curt Partee, all of Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Linda Detty, of Hudson, FL; and 3 nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son Roger Detty; a granddaughter Kim Detty; and a brother and sister-in-law Donald and Viola Cozad. Melba loved her family and her church. She was a lifelong member of Log Pile CCCU, in Vinton County. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, August 18, at Log Pile CCCU, with Pastors Jim McFadden and J.B. King officiating. Burial will follow in Log Pile Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Log Pile Church, C/O Maxine Smith, 35399 Ponetown Rd., Ray, OH, 45672.
