Mary Ryan

Mary Ann Ryan, 77, of Chillicothe, died at 4:30am Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born December 9, 1937, in Cold Springs, KY, to the late Andrew J. and Margaret G. (Lanham) Keller. On July 9, 1960, she married James A. Ryan, Sr., who preceded her in death November 22, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Patricia A. "Trish" Ryan; son James A. "Jimmy" (Norma) Ryan, Jr., all of Chillicothe; grandsons Ryan and Stephen Schreck; a sister Dolores (Glenn) Shields, Bull Shoals, Ark; a brother John Keller, Alexandria, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Charles, Joseph and Thomas Keller; a sister Margaret Martin; and a sister-in-law Rita Keller. Mary Ann was a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, in Alexandria, KY. She retired in 1975 from Adena Health System where she had worked as a utilization coordinator but continued volunteering at Adena. Following her retirement, she and her husband were co-owners of the former Hofbrau Tavern in Chillicothe. She was a member of St. Mary Church, VFW Auxiliary; American Legion, Post 62; BPOE, Lodge 52; K of C, Council 1071; Eagles, Aerie 600; the Ross County Senior Citizens where she served on the board of trustees; and a member of the Area Agency on Aging where she served on the advisory council. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, April 9, at St. Mary Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.
