Mary Rodgers

May 26, 1929 — September 2, 2012

Mary Ann Rodgers, God's precious gift to so many, was called home by her heavenly Father on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Although her death was unexpected, we can all rejoice in knowing that she is forever at home with her Savior that she served for 83 years. Mary Ann was known as "Granny" to most everyone she knew. Granny was born in Commercial Point, OH, on May 26, 1929 to Russell and Melissa (Rush) Rodgers. She is remembered and loved by her daughters Cindy (Chuck) Ferrell; and Mindy (Dennis) Brooks, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Mia (Brett) Fisher, Jeremy (Tiffany) Brown, Sarah Ferrell, all of Chillicothe; Granny's pride and joy were her 11 great-grandchildren: Michael Brown, Taylor Brown, Kelsee Ferrell, Gracie Fisher, Jocie Fisher, Madison Brown, Laynie Fisher, Maycee Smith, Joie Brown, Milee Smith, and Lilly Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Margaret (Rodgers) Finch, Kenneth "Teck" Rodgers, Russell Rodgers, Jr., Robert "Bobby" Rodgers and Betty Rodgers; and her precious grandson Joseph "Joey" Brown. Granny graduated high school in 1947 as Salutatorian from Scioto Township High School. She went to nursing school in Middletown, OH. Her passion in life was taking care of others. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for over 45 years where she served as secretary/treasurer for many years as well as on various other committees. Granny enjoyed volunteering her time every month to the United Methodist Church C.A.R.E. Outreach in McArthur. For over 25 years, she was the owner/operator of the Wallpaper Outlet in Chillicothe. Granny loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking care of her great-grandchildren. Recently, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends at Walnut Creek Campground. She enjoyed running the camp store and serving up lots of ice cream cones to the children. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters and all of her family. Memories of Granny will be forever etched in our hearts. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Haller Funeral Home with her grandson, Pastor Brett A. Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10am until 1pm at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to C.A.R.E. United Methodist Outreach, 395 E. High St., McArthur, OH 45651.
