Mary Helen Robinson

June 28, 1929 — December 28, 2025

Chillicothe

Mary Helen Robinson, 96, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at her home on December 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of the family she spent her life building.

Mary’s story began on June 28, 1929, in West Virginia, where she was born to Ephran and Lula Bell Hilton. Life truly began to bloom when she married Elvin “Red” Robinson on November 23, 1949. Together, they made their home in Chillicothe and raised five children who became the center of Mary’s world.

A familiar face in the community, Mary worked as a barmaid for many years, but her truest passions were found at home. She had a deep love for her garden, finding peace among her flowers. As the foundation of her family, Mary’s heart was boundless. She had a rare gift for seeing the good in everyone she met, and she gently encouraged those around her to do the same. She poured her entire self into those she loved, and in return, she was wrapped in that same love and care until the very end.

Mary famously told her family that she loved them “as much as a mustard seed”—a small sentiment that carried the weight of her massive heart.

She is survived by her sister, Virginia Henry; her children, Shirley Scurlock, Lisa Young, and Ronald (Shannon) Robinson, all of Chillicothe; and her very special dog, Thea. Her legacy of love continues through her eight grandchildren, Christina Scurlock, Daniel Scurlock, Angie Bostic, David (Amber) Young II, Kelsey Draper, Hayley Robinson, Aron Jones, and Erik Jones; 13 great-grandchildren, Coen, Cason, Josaphine, Ashley, Allison, Alex, Cathy, Michael, Isaiah, JC, Nathan, Aubrey, and Andrew; six great-great-grandchildren, Xavier, Payton, Liam, Gracie, Bryson, and Emberlynn; and several dear nieces and nephews.

Mary now joins those who went before her: her beloved husband, "Red"; her daughters, Debra Jo Robinson and Theresa Jones; her parents; her brothers, Howard and James Hilton; and her sisters, Mable Osborne, Zella Mankin, and Arthia Bosstic.

Mary gave her whole heart to this world, and her family and friends are forever thankful for the time they had with her. She will be dearly missed, but the seeds of love she planted will grow forever.

A Graveside Service for Mary will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn Cemetery, 643 ½ Eastern Ave., Chillicothe OH 45601.
