Mary Kathryn (Hood) Pigott was born January 27, 1929, in Cleveland, OH. After a short illness, she passed away at Westmoreland Place of Chillicothe on December 8, 2015, at the age of 86. Mary moved to Chillicothe and graduated from Chillicothe High School. She married Clyde Lee Pigott. Together, they had five children. Surviving are Mary's two sisters: Alice (Hood) Beals (Dick), of Ohio; and Dorothy Jeanne (Hood) Gartner (Kenneth), of Florida. She loved and admired both sisters greatly and looked forward to their annual visits. Also surviving are: daughters Barbara (Pigott) Shipley (Randy Shipley) and their children Megan and Travis, of Bellbrook, OH; and Carol (Pigott) Walters (David Walters) and their children Jesse and Laura, of Mooresville, NC; sons Steven Pigott (Joanne Pigott), of Choctaw, OK; and their children Alex and Crystal; and David Pigott (Jo Ellen Sager) and David's step-son Josh Marriott, of Chillicothe. Mary also had six great-grandchildren surviving: Levi and Beckett (Megan's), Kaleb and Candace (Crystal's), and Ellie and Will (Jesse's). She was preceded in death by daughter Suzanne, who died March 25, 2015; as well as her grandson Andrew "Drew" Poole, who passed away unexpectedly in 2012; and Clyde Pigott. Mary also lost a great-granddaughter in 2011, Abagail Marriott. She was also predeceased by her parents, Grace and Clifford Hood; and her brother Donald. Mary was a loyal fan of the Buckeyes. She especially like Ohio State basketball and never missed a game. She was an avid card player, playing euchre at the Senior Center and had a weekly game of bridge. She was a champion duplicate bridge player many years ago. Between the two places, she made many dear friends. Church was also very important to Mary. She was a member of Walnut Street UMC for many decades. When she was no longer physically able to attend, she faithfully listened to their services on the radio. The family recognizes and is extremely grateful to the visits made from the church during these past two months. Private graveside services will held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Haller Funeral Home and Crematory. The family requests memorial contributions be made to her church, Walnut St. United Methodist Church, 16 S. Walnut St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
