Mary Ann (Pettiford) Medley, 93, of Chillicothe, died Thursday, September 6, at 10:44am at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born December 19, 1918, to the late Floyd S. and Elizabeth A. (Young) Pettiford, Sr. On August 13, 1938, she married Cecil E. Medley, who preceded her in death on June 1, 1997. Surviving are her children: Cecilia (George) Jackson, Chillicothe; Rosemary (Clennon) Ghoston, Dayton; Jacqueline (Spencer) Netter; Patti (John) Harding; and Tony Medley, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Vincent Benton; Sherri (LaMar) Williams; Monica Steed; Bryan (Candy) Netter; Deanne (Tony) Miller; John, Jr. "Chip" Harding (special friend Jamie Imboden); Troy Harding; Indica Medley; Trevor Medley; Honey McNeal; her grand-dog "Missy"; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Jackie (Diggs) Pettiford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her sister Alice Mae Harris; brothers Floyd Pettiford, Jr. and George "Jack" Pettiford; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Mrs. Medley was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church and a former member of the Janus 54 Club. She worked as a cook for the Chillicothe Country Club, Chillicothe City Schools and her church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, Sept. 10, at Quinn Chapel AME Church with Pastor Acie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Haller Funeral Home.
