Mary B. Jenkins, 83, of Chillicothe passed away from this life on October 21, 2023, after a lengthy battle at her home. She fought the good fight and now rests from her labor.
Mary was born February 14, 1940, to Mary Burrell in Philadelphia, PA. She was pre-deceased by a loving husband of 36 years Garreth Gawaine Jenkins; grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Saunders; Aunt, Ernestine Harris, father figure, Mr. James L. Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a brother, Ronald L. Jones; two nephews, two nieces, and two stepdaughters of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A host of nieces and nephews in Chillicothe, Ohio. God Children, Robbie Lee, Chillicothe and Traci Bayless Hughey, North Carolina. Special friends Tanya Maddux, Pam Moody, Linda Wilson, Beverly Gray, The Golden Girls, Kathy Cooper, Victoria B. Collins (traveling buddies), Jimmy Simkins, Mark Harris, Scott Netter, Joe Simmons.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She sang in the Senior Choir and worked in the Kitchen Ministry. She was a Janus 54 Club Member. She retired after a lengthy service with AT&T in 1994.
Mary was a very outspoken person, even from her college life. She was a graduate of Virginia Union University. She was a member of The Richmond 34 being an active part of the "sit-ins" in the 1960s.
God saw the road was getting rough,
The Hills were hard to climb.
He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Moses Edwards officiating and eulogy by Elder Clifford Brown. Haller Funeral Home & Crematory will be in charge. Friends may join the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday. Repass to follow at First Baptist Church.
