Mary Ellen Dyer, 86, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.
She was born in Marion, Ohio on March 29, 1940, to the late Luther Gleason and Bessie (Fairchild) Gleason. On June 2, 1956, she married William Robert Dyer Sr., who preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by daughter, Vicki L. Lanman, of Chillicothe, son Dwight (Tami) Dyer, of Kingston, and daughter, Sherry Spindler, of Chillicothe with whom she lived with. Also surviving are grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Lusk, of Galena, Shawn (Stephanie) Lanman, of Bainbridge, and Chad Lanman, of Chillicothe, Dwight Adam Dyer, of Circleville, Brandon (Deanna) Dyer, of Laurelville, great-grandchildren, Bryanna (Trevor) Sickles, of Chillicothe, Kyle, Haley, and Liam Lanman, of Bainbridge, Addison and Hallie Lusk, of Galena, Trevor and Austin Lanman, of Chillicothe, Matthew (Calla) Dyer, of Circleville, Allie and Delaney Dyer, of Laurelville, and Aiden and Holden Dyer, of Circleville.
Mary was proceded in death by her parents and siblings, Louise Neukirchner, Minnie Cox, Clyde Gleason, Paul Gleason, and Shirley Conley. Her surviving siblings are Lynda Massie, Susan Ackley, and David Gleason, of Chillicothe and Connie Ayers, of Osage Beach, Missouri.
She was a former employee of Rubbermaid and Coast to Coast Hardware of Chillicothe. Mary was a member of Chillicothe Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 2:00pm, at the Haller Funeral Home with burial to follow in Grandview Cemetery. Family will recieve friends from 12:00pm until the time of service.
