Mary C. Damico, 94, died at 2:40am Thursday April 13, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 26, 1922, in Chillicothe, to the late Elmer E. and Bessie Mae (Strawser) Fink. On October 15, 1946, she married Ernest J. Damico, who preceded her in death on September 22, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, 2 grandchildren and 2 sisters. Mary is survived by her children: Joseph (Dianne) Damico, of Columbus; Christopher (Rebecca) Damico, of Westerville, Annette Damico, Nicholas Damico, Judith (Daniel) Harness, all of Chillicothe; and Edward Damico, of Hilliard; 11 grandchildren: Greg Damico, Gary Damico, Anna (William) Breil, Andrew Damico, Mary (Michael) Flynn, Margaret (Michael) Tedesco, Seth Harness, Sara Harness, Jacob Damico, Zachary Damico and Isaac Damico; 8 great-grandchildren: William & Lilliana Breil, Amelia, Elijah & Mairin Flynn, Gianna & Anaya Tedesco, and Sophia Damico; a sister Geraldine Bell; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Richard Kutschbach. Mary was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1940. She then served in the US Navy for the Women Accepted Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES). She worked for Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health center, retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she served on the bereavement committee and was a member of Knights of Columbus Auxiliary where she served as secretary. Mary was a charter member of Delta Sigma Kappa sorority where she was active for 74 years, and volunteered for many charitable organizations including Bishop Flaget School. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and bridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday, April 20, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a wake service will be held at 8pm.
