Mary E. Boothe, 90, of Chillicothe, died of natural causes, at 2:30am on May 18th, at her residence at Brookdale Chestnut Hill in Columbus Ohio. She was born on February 22, 1926 in Ross County to the late Willard and Violet (McCoy) Ott. On August 6, 1944 she married Frank D Boothe Sr., also deceased. Surviving are her children, Frank "Dan" (Sue) Boothe, New Albany, OH, Deborah (James) Humphreys, Jacksonville, FL, and David (Clare) Boothe, Johns Creek, GA; six grandchildren, Beth White, Angie (Tyler) Abrams, Amy (Greg) Johnson, Jason (Melissa) Retherford, Roman Boothe and Anastasia Boothe; six great-grandchildren, Ian White, Mallory Retherford, Lauren and Brennan Johnson, and Audrey and Emma Abrams. Also surviving are 2 siblings, Norma Parker and Charles "Chuck" Ott. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara (Mike "Herbie") Retherford and 6 siblings Fred Ott, Paul Ott, Willard Ott Jr, Robert Ott, John Ott and Carol Sue Pettit. Mrs. Boothe retired in 1984 after 35 years from the VA Hospital as a medical secretary to the chief of staff. She was an avid golfer and member of the VA women's golf league. She was a member of Yellowbud Chapel. She enjoyed cards, dominos and other games with family and friends and is widely credited for developing the rules for many of the games she played. She was also active with Frank, her husband of 70 years, in AMVETS Post 4, the VFW, Chief Petty Officers Club and American Legion Post 757. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 1:00pm at Haller Funeral Home, with her brother Charles Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery on Route 104. Friends may call on Friday, May 20th from 6:00 pm-8:00pm at Haller Funeral Home and from noon until the time of the service on Saturday.
