Marvin N. Shoults, 88, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Marvin was a man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. To know him was truly to love him. He was simply the best—one of those rare souls that comes along only once in a lifetime, if at all.
He was a beautiful example of what it means to be a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. Marvin was known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, always able to bring a smile or laughter to those around him. When something truly amused him, a single dimple would appear in his cheek—a small but unforgettable expression of the joy he carried and shared so easily.
Marvin was an avid golfer who found great joy on the course, and many in his neighborhood will fondly remember seeing him driving down the street in his golf cart, heading out for another round. He was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, rarely missing a game. A naturally athletic man, he had a lifelong love of sports and followed everything from golf, basketball, football to horse racing.
He retired from Mead Paper Company after 42 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frank and Myrtle (Zickafoose) Shoults; his brother, Duane Shoults; and his parents-in-law, Earl and Lois (Jordan) Miller and grandson, Mark (Chris) Ward.
He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 67 years, Karla K. (Miller) Shoults, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories; his three daughters, Victoria (Vandle) Ward, Cinda (Tom) Wiggins, and Debra (David) Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Alflen, Matt (Keneice) Ward, Melissa Sparks, Brandon Willett, Jackie (Steve) Hartley, David (Lindsay) Sparks, Caitlyn Wiggins, Dalton Bettendorf, and Victoria Bettendorf; his brother, David Shoults; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
His presence brought comfort, strength, and warmth to those around him, and his legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
Marvin will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Life will be held at Harvest Center Church of God on his Birthday- Wednesday, May 20th 4-6 pm. Fellowship and service at 5 pm with food to follow. We hope you join us in celebrating such a special man.
