Marvin L. Detty Marvin L. Detty, 80, of Chillicothe, died 9:15 am, January 31, 2008 in Westmoreland Place Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Sunday in the Haller Funeral Home, with John Karlson and Larry Burnette officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans' Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 4-6 pm Saturday at Haller's. He was born April 17, 1927 in Ross Co. to Raymond and Audrey Stuart Detty. On April 28, 1948 he married Geneva E. Pritchard, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Kathryn (Michael) McCorkle, of Chillicothe and Marvin L. (Patricia) Detty Jr., of Columbus; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Robert) Dement, of Chillicothe, and Leslie and Lucas Detty, both of Columbus; a great-grandchild, Kayla Dement; brothers, James Detty, of California ahd Hershel (Marlene) Detty, of Chillicothe; sisters, Alice Andrews, of Athens, OH and Berle (Merle) Bethel, of McArthur; a brother-in-law, Jack Temple, and a sister-in-law, Purle Detty, both of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Detty; sisters, Pansy Temple and Marjorie Weaver; and a half brother, Russell Stuart. Mr. Detty retired in 1982 as a Health Technician from the VA Medical Center. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and received the Faithful Service, Victory, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and American Campaign Medals. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and the American Legion Post 757. He was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
