Marvin E. Cox, 81, of Chillicothe, died at 5:25am on June 16, 2026, at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness.
He was born July 11, 1944, in Chillicothe. On July 16, 1977, he married the former Rosemarie Hamburger, who preceded him in death on October 22, 2021.
Surviving are their children: Amy (Andy) Vance, of Circleville; Bryan Cox (Amanda Toney), of Urbana; Casey (Amanda) Cox, of Waverly; Daniel (Billie) Cox, Eric Cox and Jonathan (Misty) Cox, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Hailey Cox, Payton Cox, Abby Cox, Dominick Smith, Taylor Simmons, Brayden Coonrod, Jaelynn Cox and Quinn Powell; great-grandchildren: Iris Smith and Brynleigh Coonrod; brothers Keith (Cheryl) Evans and Mark Evans (Terri); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father Mary Jane (Smith) and Andrew Evans; and a great-granddaughter Milani.
Marvin retired from Sears and had worked as a carpenter, for Lowes Home Installation and the former Hagar TV. He served his country in the US Navy from 1962-1965. He also served in the Navy Reserve, the US Army National Guard and served as a Ross Co. Sheriff Special Deputy from 1977-1994.
His funeral service will be celebrated at 1:30pm Friday, June 19, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Rev Sean Dooley, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1:30pm Friday at the funeral home. Following cremation, military graveside services will be scheduled in St. Margaret Cemetery.
