Martin "Tony" Schumann

March 12, 1945 — November 29, 2023

Martin Anthony "Tony" Schumann, 78, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2023.

Tony was born on March 12, 1945 in Chillicothe, OH. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Roda Charlotte (Hall) Schumann, two daughters, Kimberly Ann Payne (Brad) of Hilton Head, SC and Angela Marie Doll (Gary) of Tipp City, OH, two brothers, Mike Schumann (Cheryl) of The Villages, FL and Bernard Schumann (Denise) of Chillicothe, one sister, Mary (Schumann) Strawser (Harold) of Myrtle Beach, SC, six grandchildren, Megan, Curtis, Emily, Maggie, Mason and Macy, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he referred to as "wingdads".  Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pauline (Betz) Schumann of Chillicothe, his brothers, Fred Schumann (Mary Lou) of Columbus and Paul (Joe) Schumann (Lola) of Chillicothe, and his sisters, Roberta Schumann of Chillicothe and Ruth (Schumann) McCloskey (Ronald) of Frankfurt, OH.

He graduated from Bishop Flaget High School in 1963. He was part of the first graduating class, and his daughter, Kim, was in the last graduating class of 1986. He worked at Wearever Aluminum for 18 years, mostly in supervision, and at Telesis Technologies for 15 years, where he retired as a Manufacturing Manager in 1998.  Tony loved his family dearly. He had affectionate nicknames for everyone and was always kidding around and acting silly. He spent the last 22 winters with Charlotte as a snowbird in Ft. Myers, FL where he loved playing cards with friends and having lunch on the beach.  Tony will be remembered by everyone as the guy who could fix anything. He could do any kind of construction, plumbing, electrical work, or car repair. Most of his friends live in a house that Tony worked on at some time or another.  In recent years, Tony resurrected his love for Whizzer Motor Bikes. He enjoyed restoring them and, yes, even riding them. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church of Chillicothe and belonged to the Ross County Conservation League for 20 years.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 pm Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Peter Church, Rev. Frank Brown, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.  Friends may call 2-4 pm Sunday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tony's honor to Adena Hospice, 2077 Western Ave., Chillicothe, OH 45601, who took such good care of him in his last months.
