Martha Rittenhouse

Martha J. (Chester) Rittenhouse, died 6:30 am, Sunday, July 10, 2011, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born February 10, 1942 in Pickaway Co. to the late Roy L. and Clara D. Justice Chester. On October 15, 1987 she married and has enjoyed 24 years with Jerry E. Rittenhouse, who survives. Also surviving is her daughter, Mary Jane (Scott) Spears, of Kingston; three grandchildren, Sarah J. Mangus, Pvt. Matthew S. Shoemaker, and Courtney K. Rittenhouse; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Russell L. (Betty Hopkins) Chester, of Circleville; a nephew, M. Sean Chester; a special aunt, Rose Justice; several cousins, including a special cousin, Carol Bliss; and special care givers, Mary Boggoni and Becky Whaley. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry E. Rittenhouse, Jr. Mrs. Rittenhouse was a member of the Kingston Pentecostal Church and had worked 21 years for the US Shoe Corporation. She was an animal lover and excellent cook, but her husband was her whole world. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel (Deerfield Twp.) Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Wednesday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adena Health Foundation, Friends of Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
