In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephan Jefford, three daughters, Cherie Ritacco, Christie Arausa, and Charlee Wooster, a brother, Clyde "Buddy" Green, as well as her grandparents. Martha was an exceptional woman with an incredible amount of drive and passion. While raising her 5 children, she enrolled in the Scott Community College in Davenport, Iowa, where she pursued and completed her degree as a Registered Nurse. Following the completion of her degree, she worked in several states as an RN, including Iowa, Maryland, Alabama, and eventually Ohio. During that time she found her passion for working in the Critical Care Unit. Upon moving to Chillicothe, Ohio in 2006, Martha began working for the Crisis Center, which ignited a new passion to help people in a way that she had not before. She began casually attending classes at the Ohio University Chillicothe campus, which eventually led her to enroll to pursue her Masters Degree in Social Work. Although her illness prevented her from completing that degree, she took great pride in her school work and being able to help people. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering, planting flowers, and watching football, specifically the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was rarely seen without a book in her hand and her red lipstick on. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time. A memorial service will be held in Martha's hometown of Huntsville, Alabama, and will be announced by the family at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made in Martha's honor to the Crisis Center, by sending them to Scioto-Paint Valley Mental Health, c/o Nancy Roberts, PO Box #6179, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
